Gender in the Media

Men are portrayed in the media to be tough and have no emotions. Male teenagers in the media are good looking and have toned bodies. They don't show their feelings and are not vulnerable. If a guy in a TV show cries or shows their inner feelings they are usually called names by other guys or even by their role models. In shows they male teenagers are usually taught by their fathers or an adult male how to be a man. They are taught to keep their feelings inside of them and to act tough. In the media teen guys usually date girls based on how good looking they are. I think this pressures many guys just to date girls based on their looks rather than their personalities. There is also a pressure on guys to be muscular and have a good body. Guys aren't supposed to "act gay" by showing their feelings or being interested in fashion or any other interest that doesn't seem manly enough. Teenage guys have just as many pressures as teenage girls have.
